| Amherst Alarm ,Inc. was founded in 1984 to serve the Western New York area by Tim and Maryann Creenan. |
| Tim started in the electronic security field in 1975 working for a large locally owned security firm. He performed various jobs including central station dispatcher, installer, and service technician. That company was eventually sold and Tim pursued a degree in Electronic Engineering at State University College at Buffalo. After graduating in 1982, Tim continued in the electronic security field with another company until the formation of Amherst Alarm, Inc. |

| The company started with a small efficient staff of Tim, Maryann and a part time installer. Tim handled the sales, service and supervised the installations while Maryann managed the office side of the business. Today there are almost 40 employees. 15 are installers and/or service techs, all of which has been factory trained by the various manufacturers that supply Amherst Alarm. Training is very important for the installers, all are National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association Certified. |
| Central Station monitoring is done by Amherst Alarm's own computerized UL monitoring center, with leading edge hardware and software. Tim said " Our monitoring staff has generated more referrals from satisfied customers who spread the word about what a great service we provide than any advertising program we could have done." Keeping at the leading edge of technology is a high priority for Tim and the staff at Amherst Alarm. We offer installation of a backup radio network for alarm monitoring. "With this Network of radio transmitters in place, Amherst Alarm is able to offer our customers a secure way of transmitting alarm signals to our monitoring center," Tim commented. |
| Amherst Alarm has made a name for itself by concentrating on developing a reputation with the area's finest home builders. "Home builders are a very demanding group of customers. Schedules have to be kept to and jobs must be completed on time," said Tim. He attributes the ability of Amherst Alarm to meet the builders schedule as a big factor in the growth of the companies new build business. Quality is another important factor that keeps the builders calling Amherst Alarm to do more jobs. All work is laid out and inspected by Tim to keep those quality levels high. Commercial accounts also comprise a large percentage of the companies account base. The commercial accounts include the Department of The Treasury, U.S. Customs Service, national fast food chains, Applebee’s national restaurant chain, Lucent Technologies, State University of Buffalo, North American Health Care, churches, local hospitals and medical centers and many local factories and storage facilities. |

Diversity is another plus at Amherst Alarm. Although security systems are the main products sold, other built in products are sold and serviced by Amherst Alarm as well. One of the most popular non security items available is the Beam Central Cleaning system. It ties in great with home builders and the companies existing customer base as well. Other products that Amherst Alarm handles are music intercoms, wall safes, in wall speakers and audio / video systems. Customers know that the same great service they get for their security system, they will get for these other products as well. |
| Steady controlled growth seems to be the way that Amherst Alarm has gained market share during its first 20 years in business. |
